St. Anthony's Retreat Center, Hawai'i

Friday, July 4 at 5 PM till Saturday, July 12 at 11 AM

St Anthony Retreat Center, 3351 Kalihi Street, Honolulu

In this Vipassana retreat we will explore the Buddha's teachings on liberation of mind and heart. Through learning to connect with our mind/body process with interest and acceptance we develop greater understanding and compassion, extending our ability to meet life's changes with ease and serenity. With guidance from the teachers, participants are encouraged to develop trust in their own practice.
Metta is the Pali word for Loving friendliness. This retreat provides support to touch into the wordless depths of our own heart that is boundless in it's ability to love and embody kindness. Mindfulness of Metta will be offered as well as teachings on Compassion, Joy in the happiness of others, and Equanimity.

About the teachers:

Steven Smith has been teaching Vipassana Metta retreats worldwide since 1983.  His clear and precise teaching of the Theravadin tradition is highly regarded by his students.  He founded Vipassana Hawaii, began the fusion retreat style with Sayadaw U Lakkhana in Kyaswa and chairs the Metta Dana Project offering aid in Burma and Thailand.

Michele McDonald has taught Insight meditation for twenty-six years. Her style of teaching emphasizes helping individuals find entry points into stillness that are natural for them. She encourages an understanding the path of insight and a gentle strengthening of mindfulness and concentration so that, ultimately, people can access the peaceful depths of their experience in every moment. Michele is thrilled when students begin to love their practice.
